timkeller 0 Posted August 24, 2008 What a wonderful combination of elements! Light/dark, abstraction/representation, reflect/direct, contrasting colors...and a barely recognizable subject matter that (seems to) include ripe fruit on a tree after a rain! Me gusta mucho, Joaquim...bravo! Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted August 24, 2008 Whatever this is, it has an ominous presence looking through the rain-streaked glass. Almost like a fly. Really nicely done. Link to comment

tonmestrom 4 Posted August 26, 2008 you sure succeeded in producing an impressionistic look and maybe even Claude himself would have appreciated this one. To be brutally honest though I don't. It may well be that I'm biased but there is just not enough here to keep me interested for long. The colours look too flat and worn out while those four yellow spots (fruits?) attract too much attention. Link to comment
jbidarra 0 Posted August 27, 2008 This is not the kind of picture to be interested for long. This is pure pop art futility in pastel colors. Now, for something more serious, although I can understand your point, the idea in this case, for a rainy day photo, was to keep colors not saturated and contrast low. And my idea was also to play mainly with yellow and green. I dodged the two more proeminent fruits (in reality street lamps) to add a little (subtle) color contrast with the foliage. I believe this point can be of disputable taste, but it works for me. I must confess that, at this stage, I much prefer this image to the "cafe on the beach" photo. Both are "experiments" (call it "things I do just for fun" could be more appropriate) that I will normally let "breed" for months, and then decided if I still like them or not. The feedback on PN can have a role in my second toughts, and I think you know that I value some opinions much more then others. Your opinion is always welcome and of great value, even if for the time being, we agree on disagree. Regards. PS: You can be "bruttaly honest", even more, you should. I like the experience I am having in PN a lot, but one thing that really strikes me is the amazing number of "touchy" people and "delicate" egos around. I am all in favor off saying things politely and in a pedagogical way, wich I think you do, but if you post a photo for critique it is supposed that by definition its to be critiqued and questioned, otherwise it should be named "praise and glory forum". tonmestrom 4 Posted August 28, 2008 you nor I would feel very much at home in a "praise and glory" forum so we'd better leave that to others. To leave no room for misunderstanding, I didn't say you should abondon the idea. Actually you should run with it and further explore it. I only said I didn't like this particular one. But that's just an opinion. Your other one I did like so you could write that off to individual taste. I have some photo's in my portfolio that are there simply because I like them even if they are largely ignored. Link to comment
