I love the character that you've captured in this man's face. There's so much to think about when you look into his eyes. I can't help but wonder about this man when I look at this picture...it's very human and immediately catches my eyes.

All the Best!

Hey Birte,

This is my second comment on what is at heart an interesting series. Rather than criticize, I'd like to pose a couple of questions for self-criticism.

First, I like this portrait. I never critique photos I don't like for reasons that should be obvious.

What I'd like to ask, or for you to ask yourself is this: consistency across a body of work is nice, but at what point does consistent become repetitive?

Second, is your flash technique here telling the story you want to tell or is it taking away from it?

Seems like you're using a very direct flash which results in revealing every wart and pimple. That works great with this picture, I think. But I'm not so sure it's the best approach for the portraits of children.

Then again, there are no rules.

Keep at it, man. It's worth it.

Its a good photo, technically sound. Plus it deals with reality, the stuggle and perseverance of this physically challenged man. But does that make a great piece of art? For me it sends a sense of morbidity. In my hospital there is no dearth of material for photography but I resist because of this same reason. If I was making a documentary on misery of humanity, I would definitely portray them.
