hopsage 0 Posted September 1, 2008 Whether this was part of the previsualization or not, your choice of shutter speed was spot on here. Just enough to blur the foreground water movement slightly, but not so much that you lose small details. That, combined with capturing just the right instant before that small background wave rolled over the rocks gives the water an effect like sculpted glass. It's really incredibly lovely. My only critique is that the top 15% or so of the frame isn't contributing anything. Negative space can be good, but in this case, it distracts me a little bit from the really interesting foreground subjects. However, I don't think cropping anything from the sides is possible: the curve of that wave is very dynamic, and any subtraction seem to lessen it. It's unusual for an intimate landscape, but perhaps a panoramic crop? Link to comment

hopsage 0 Posted September 2, 2008 Mmmm. Yes. It looks like you took just a bit off the bottom, too, removing that little bit of foreground half-a-rock. Very, very nice. Link to comment
