Nice portrait....I really like her soft smile and pearcing eyes. The soft light is also very nice, as are her skin tones. Wonderfully compose portrait.

Doug, I probably wouldn't have noticed the softer eye, if you had not pointed it out. I think the overall quality of the image is great and therefore minimizes any attention to the area you are concerned about. Congrats....LJ

Now you're humming. This is quite something. I would still prefer less white but with looks like that, who cares?

You might want to offer a small word of thanks to Diana Deaver for those eyes. I consulted with her before the shoot and she advised me to be attentive to them as one of Nora's best features.

Thanks for everyone's comments.

Craig, same light here as in the other shot with your longer comment. She's just turned a little to the left, and I got closer.

"is it a big problem for you that the distant eye is slightly out of focus?"

Not really, although it works better for dramatic studio portraits than for simple and natural outdoor portraits like this one (imo). Now a little note on the framing...: that's what long hair are good for - to cover up bottom left corner backgrounds. :-) But it's quite pale here, so it's ok. Careful with the dress' straps too - bottom right one is disturbing a bit. Expression is cute, but it would perhaps work better if you had included a bit more hair at right. Also it's a pity that the hair is gone on that side for a different reason: there was a nice wave there, which would complete the overall gentle and tender mood of her face and of this portrait. Finally, have you taken a similar shot where she would be turned just about 20 or 30° more towards the camera ? Regards.

Hi Marc,

I do have a shot of here turned a little more toward camera, but her mouth is different, more tense, so I chose this one. I like what you're suggesting about the hair as a frame. I never thought of it quite like that, which illustrates how much I don't know as it's probably cosmetics 101.
