Like our memories, this has areas of sharpness and blur, brightnessand shadow, all through a cracked and distorted mirror.

I enjoy finding creative ways to use images as a source for abstract representations.

Many of my abstracts are created from, and still recognizable in relation to the source, some are far removed from their original appearance. Others are created from custom designs done on the computer. A few are a mix of method and source.

Many, such as the Nara Tree Scar series are basically unaltered, with an accentuation of of natural components being the only change. Quite a few are essentially the original photo, but with added color, lighting effects and textures, and perhaps a bit of distortion or perspective alteration.

Today, photography and the creation of images is my preferred form of mental `exercise' and an intellectual outlet. It helps me retain what is left of my sanity. Hopefully, it also inspires a few others to explore, to think and see outside the bounds of tradition and to extend their vision beyond what others see.
