shirkwolfe 0 Posted August 25, 2008 They are hard to catch. I stuck this dead branch in a flower pot close to the feeder and they often perch there. I'm shooting through a window about 8 feet from the birds with a 400mm VR lens on a D700 at high ISO so as to freeze the motion when possible. Usually, the lens is pre-focused to the branch and then I have to get really lucky. The birds are more active in the morning and evening and after most of the flowers are done blooming so they're fussing over who controls the territory around the feeders. Link to comment
