zparticle 0 Posted August 19, 2008 really very nice. I'm curious how much you had to lighten the picture in post processing, if any. I've recently tried to take a similar picture but even at very high ISO everything came out so dark I had no detail on the underside of the bird. Link to comment

rarmstrong 0 Posted August 19, 2008 Thank you all for your very generous comments! This is one of my first attempts at flying birds with a new Nikkor 80-400mm VR. I was focused on the eagle on a tree top when it took off and I was lucky to keep it in focus. Scott, thank you, the trick with the light is time of day. This was taken just before sunset with the light low on the horizon. The bird was to the east from my position on my boat and this shot is hand held. You want to keep the iso as low as possible and still have enough speed to stop the bird. I tweaked the exposure about half a stop up in post processing. Good luck...these shots aren't easy but they are really fun! Dick Link to comment
