Chiricahua National Monument is absolutely BEAUTIFUL with amazing "organ pipe" rock formations. For some reason, I am not happy with any of my images from the several hours that I spent there. (sigh....) I will share with you these two shots, but I'm not even really happy with these.......

Lou Ann, i think this is beautiful. i think i understand your disappointment though. i just don't think you can get the sense of scale that i imagine these formations must have. have you considered converting this to b&w? the colors here are wonderful of course, but i think this might be more dramatic in b&w.

Hi Lou Ann..hope your not too upset about this shot as it worked out fine, you have good contrast and colour here..the b/w version is also interesting but it does no more to the general scene except emphasise the oldness of the formation. The simple truth is that the only way to really see these rocks in their full glory is from above, but maybe as you don't have a helicopter (you don't do you?) this would be impossible! Good luck ..Regards Keith

Its the harsh light that hurt you here. I think Linda's suggested black and white conversion is the best remedy. Some of those side canyons can be spectacular, late in the afternoon, or just after dawn. Next time you're out there do a little reconning effort the afternoon before and find some places that set up well for sunset or dawn photography and you'll be set. Cheers! Chris
