jeffl7 0 Posted August 17, 2008 I like this mosaic-like scene immensely. The twinkling bits of saturated color against a relatively neutral backdrop give the impression of shining a flashlight in a diamond mine. Although there are enough clues to clearly convey the context, looked at sideways this transforms into an abstraction. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted August 17, 2008 The deep, dark background colors against the small sunlit areas make for a nice effect. Holds my interest for a long while. Maybe I would crop both sides a bit for a 4x5 aspect ratio :-) Link to comment

aginbyte 0 Posted August 18, 2008 ... like Carsten I love the deep rich dark colors of the rock wall which are made more appealing by the sunlit tree in the foreground. A magnificent scene of nature beautifully captured. Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted August 18, 2008 I remember this trip like it was yesterday. A client of mine, a tour bus driver, had gotten arrested driving at Yosemite without a tour driver's license. So, he hired me to go there to represent him. I decided this was as good a time as any to give the family a vacation. Piling into the old Lexus, the wife, the 6 month old baby and I, headed out to Yosemite. The trip was a harrowing experience, as we left late, caught heavy traffic, and found ourselves driving down the unforgiving mountain road to Mariposa in stark darkness. To make matter absolutely hell, after three hours of sitting in his rear facing seat, Gabriel just spooked out and started to scream at the top of his voice. No amount of consoling, feeding, stopping, or singing could calm him down. Oge insisted on carrying him while I drove, an idea I quickly nixed, and so we sat there in the darkness, three headstrong people, none giving an inch. In this way did we pass 40 minutes until Gabriel fell asleep. We did not get into our room at the Yosemite Lodge till about 10 pm. It wasn't until the next day that I drove out alone to the court and finally got to enjoy the scenery. After my hearing, I took the whole family out for a bit of sightseeing, after which we headed home early on Saturday, a bittersweet trip, if there ever was one. Link to comment

lesa jones 0 Posted August 19, 2008 Ha...love the story Emmanuel!! You know they make sitcoms out of situations like yours... even though it wasn't funny or enjoyable at the time. I like the deep rich colors here and various light... regards...LJ Link to comment

bosshogg 4 Posted August 22, 2008 Did you win the case? I'm kind of pigheaded about some things, and shooting in Yosemite is one of those things. I have always felt that the challenge to not create a cliche would be too much to overcome. But I must say you have done a fine job of creating a unique image and thereby prove my foolishness. Another thing that is great about this is the fact that it is abstract enough that it can be difficult to no the scale of things. Wonderful. Link to comment
