vicky_white 0 Posted August 11, 2008 I love this moment you captured. I am pretty green when it comes to photography. I was curious what type of camera and lens you use to take these shots? Link to comment
laverephoto 0 Posted August 11, 2008 Hi Vicki, I shot this with a D200 and 17-35 2.8 Nikon lens set to 17 mm. Settings were iso 100 @ F. 8.0 and 1/250th of a second. The light on the subject is a 30 inch white umbrella placed about a meter from the subject and to the right. I did some dodging and burning in Lightroom to get the balance between the faces and the background the way I like. Thanks for looking! Link to comment
hilarye 0 Posted August 12, 2008 Hey John! I do a variation on this shot where I meter for the sun at f22. It gives a great star burst from the sun and they are in silhouette. But...I really like that you got a bit of a star burst and they are lit as well! GREAT JOB! Link to comment
laverephoto 0 Posted August 12, 2008 I used to be terrified of doing portraits in direct sun, but now I'm getting to like the drama of it. I blame my LCD screen for all my new found confidence;-) Oh yeah... I remember your shot from your portfolio. I'm sure it was the subliminal or not so subliminal inspiration for this. Thanks!
