Guest Guest Posted August 12, 2008 Having some late summer fun, Len? Nice details. Unusual composition was what someone told me when I posted mine up cut up this way. But, composition is all up to the mind to figure out, right? Personally, I have seen enough of the perfect quarter cut-up of a sunflower and I think this composition gives it a different twist to the story. Keep up the good fight! Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted August 12, 2008 It looks good to me, Len. I like the composition just as it is. Shots like this are much more difficult than most people think but you have nailed this one. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted August 12, 2008 Arthur, I chose this crop to emphasize the center which I found intriguing. I left just enough border to assure every viewer that this is indeed a sunflower. Borders on cliche', I know, but a nice shot is a nice shot & it's mine. :-) Always a pleasure hearing from you. Stay connected. Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted August 12, 2008 Jeff, Thanks for your 2 cents. My Costco prints and scans were a disappointment so I rescanned using my old Minolta Dimage Dual ll, massaged the file in PS, and arrived at this superior offering. I'll print this one as you see it here. My biggest problem was spotting all the dust that Costco was kind enough to include at no extra charge. :-( Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted August 15, 2008 I love the details & colours of this one, especially in the seed pod. Cliche' or Classic? You be the judge. Comments\critiques will be gratefully received. Best, LM. Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted August 15, 2008 A bit different in composition which is refreshing Link to comment
wogears 186 Posted August 15, 2008 This HAS been done a lot, but the colors here are very good. Needs sharpening, though. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted August 15, 2008 Ken, Thanks for the vote of confidence. I did take a number of compositions, this one among them. Tough to get a new look to such a common subject. Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted August 15, 2008 Les, I prefer the word 'Classic' to 'cliche'. :-) And it was the colours that caught my attention. You are correct on the sharpening item. Must have forgot to resharpen after I downsized for the web. Boy, can't put anything past you guys. Best, LM. Link to comment
