paolo de faveri 1 Posted August 6, 2008 The name of this place is a bit misleading, as instead of a lake there are streams and small ponds in this plain. However, there was actually a lake here some century ago, but after decades of floods its bed is now almost completely filled up with debris. Making this place as one of the highest swamp in the world I guess. Taken yesterday morning at 6 am, a few minutes after sunrise. Your C&C are higly appreciated, thanks for your time. Details: Eos 400D, Tokina ATX-Pro 12-24 f4, GND 4x, tripod. Stitch of 4 vertical frames Link to comment
adrian_klein 0 Posted August 6, 2008 Great job with keeping the details in the FG. I can tell this is a significant contrast from the shadows to the highlights! Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted August 6, 2008 I really like this one a lot! You have really captured the feeling of the high alpine country at dawn with the cold lighting conditions. You also handled the light very nicely in this exposure. The wind-tossed flowers add some terrific FG interest. Beautiful mountain photograph, my friend; and thanks for sharing. Cheers! alextremps 0 Posted August 6, 2008 A great steach of photos! Really the tokina 12-24 have a nice detail. You think it's better than the sigma 10-20mm?? 7/7 for you! Link to comment
paolo de faveri 1 Posted August 6, 2008 Thank you all for your precious comments, I really appreciate that. Alex, I can't tell of a comparison between the Sigma 10-20 and the Tokina 12-24, as I never had a chance to test the Sigma. The two macro differences however between these two lenses are that the Sigma as 2 more millimeters at the wide end which means an appreciable increase in the angle of view (but more distortions too); and that the tokina is an f4 throughout the focal range while the Sigma is a f4-f5,6. What I can surely tell you is that the Tokina is really tack sharp, and astonishing sharp from f5,6 to f16. And it's also very contrasted and makes a great job in scenes like this one. A minor issue is the color fringes produced in the high contrasted areas near to the borders, but all this kind of lenses have the same issue, and it's something that you can easily fix while RAW processing. All in all, a great lens that I easily recommend to anyone. Cheers,Paolo Link to comment
morgan_gray 0 Posted September 4, 2008 The lighting is perfect! I love the colors as well, both in the foreground and in the background. Nice stitching. Link to comment
