Tail on fire!

First of all, I would like to thank you from the core of my heart for your very objective yet deeply analytical critique on my picture of a female Scarlet Skimmer. To be honest, it is very rarely that we receive such candid and detailed critiques on PN.

It is not that your critique has only good things to say about my picture; I would actually be more appreciative of the ones that would point out the shortcomings and how I could do better. It would be a pleasure and also a privilege to learn from a photo-artist of your calibre.

Coming to your image of a squirrel, my first impression is that you chose this particular perspective with the clear intent of utilizing the ambient light for the kind of effect you have achieved in this marvellous picture. The mellow sunlight bouncing off the bushy tail and the forehead of the squirrel in the most appealing aspect of this composition. And the caption you have given the picture holds very very well because the tail does look aflame in this picture.

The back lit tail sure fits the bill. Posture of its natural cautious behavior. Good and sharp. Wonder if you could dodge the the highlight at tail a bit. Thanks for sharing.

I am not to sure about the white-black frame (maybe it is a question of taste), but the photograph is just brilliant, very well done!
