Meir, this man's face is fascinating. Great choice. The b&w also works quite well. I was wondering if the impact might be stronger with a tighter crop. There is a great deal going on here and his face is so complex and rich that i wondered if a different crop would change it any.

I shot the original to keep the hands in the foto. I am attaching two crops which might be in accordance with your idea. That is, if I had moved in closer, with this crop and about the 35mm format. I have the bottom of the shirt sleeve and that button to close the foto at the bottom of the frame.

Here is a second possibility if I had moved in closer. The bottom of the Shirt V to close the frame and again about the 35mm format. This crop is too tight.

 

 

The simulated closer crops have the other advantage of removing all of that busy background. Often I carry a 105mm lens and that would be better for this shot. That day I had the 50mm. Neither of these crops could have been done with a 50mm lens unIess I had a box to sit on; otherwise I'd be shooting down from a high angle. I do not own a zoom. I think the first crop is better than the photo I shot. Thank You for your suggestions; I like them. Maybe I'll come across him again someday. /meir.

I like the tight crop but I'd like to know what other people think.
