This has a very Escher like quality. The composition is excellent giving a visual flow that keeps the eye moving within the frame. You might consider just a bit more contrast. The overall image has the hint of flatness. Very nice work.

Well, yes, Escher... But to me it's more a tribute to Henri Cartier-Bresson...

I enjoyed seeing this.  I wish I understood what gives it that Escher-like quality.  There's no ambiguity about the light source and the actual geometry is clear enough.  I was going to say that the BW conversion could have been a little lighter, but I think the murkiness toward the top of the frame may be part of what produces the quasi-illusion.  Anyhow, it's fun to look at all those rectangles and trapezoids at crazy angles to each other and feel like we're descending into the picture along with the person descending the staircase.
