Question #1: What was the reason you pressed the shutter? The mountain? The reflection? If the answer is yes to either one- crop out the foreground. Also take a little off the sky too. Great shot but clean it up a little and it will be great! Good Luck Chris

Beautiful scenery!! I like the B&W. The color version is nice also, but this one really helps bring out the contrasting snow and mountian. I don't like the brush in the lower left corner. It feels distracting. I would clone it out. You don't want to crop out the foreground or it will leave the photo unbalanced. I would also lighten the brush on the right just a little to bring out a little more detail, so it doesn't feel like a heavy void.

(I edited your photo just a little to give you an idea of what I'm trying to explain. Hope you don't mind)

Chris,

Thanks for your comments. the short answer, is Yes..to both.

I kind of like the lower right hand corner brush, as it helps kind of frame the mountain relection in my view, so i would like to keep it there, but in Lacey's edit with cloning out the small brush piene in the left, i think that helps alot.

It is distracting.

And Lacey, no i don't mind at all. Thanks for your input and cloning idea.

I have a very bad habit of rushing my edits. That, coupled with a lack of working knowledge of PS Elements 6 really limits me as to what i'm doing. This is why this is more or less an experiment. But the more i look at this, the more i like this better than the color version, as you are right, it does show the contrast, and "depth" ikn the mountains better.

Thanks to both of you for great advice!

Great BW picture but I would not compare it with the colour version. This one is stronger with a lot more contrast but does not convey any information on the morning light which is so nicely captured in the colour version. Cheers. Yves P.
