This image was created for use in trade advertising for New York

designer Helga Howie. It was ultimately rejected by the designer for one

reason solely. See if you can determine why a designer would reject

this particular image for use in advertising? Please leave your

comment/explanation here and I'll respond directly to the first comment

that comes closest to the designers train of thought.

Most common is the use of generic almost non-alluring shoes. Designers usually want to emphasize the clothing, not the shoes, that is unless they are creating those too! You are right though, these shoes are pretty non-descript all right! Almost on the edge of ugly. No, it was not the shoes.

I see a few things that stand out to me right away - that piece of hair sticking up, the bunched sleeve and that her arms look really skinny.

Kim, the hair was all the rage spikey or stranded; no problem! But the arms, the bunched sleeves on the left arm and especially over the shoulder was the fatal flaw! I should have taken a few images of the model from the backside. This was often a realm of clothes pins clips and tape. Never the way a woman would actually wear the garment out on the street. The designer loved the lines but hated how the garment showed. So this was a no-go! Good eyes Kim. I think maybe some sort of prize is in order? Maybe you can suggest something (reasonable that is)!
