Here's another version from my shooting in Teton National Park.

Please leave comments if you are kind enough to rate. If tis photo is

rated with 4's, please comment as to the reasons.

Thanks for looking

Cheers

I gave a 4 for aesthetics due to the very contrasty mid-morning light and the lack-lustre composition. I find the composition the more troubling issue. I don't really find any pleasing form in the foreground to grab my eye and the sky is featureless and without any interesting colours either. I also feel there is a lack of connection between the foreground and background here too.

I gave a 4 for originality also largely due to the uninspired composition and the commonness of the subject matter.

I also feel that insisting on comments with critiques below a certain point is a tactic to bully people into higher ratings or discourage them from leaving a low rating. Either you feel the ratings are useless or not. They are not any more useless just because they are low rather than high!

Ian,

Thanks for your input regarding my image. While i requested critiques from those who rated my image, i did so no to bully them, but to learn from them. If one person leaves a 4, and 3 people leave a 6, then, i am to assume it is a very good photo. For those that leave 4's to help in my learning, i'd like to know what i would need to do to make the photo better.

Why you are so cynical, i'm not certain, but you should try and have a better outlook. Life is too short!

To the other commenters, thanks for your comments

I don't think I was being cynical. I was mostly pointing out that I feel you are misguided if you believe that there is any substantive difference between being told you have a good photo (by having it rated highly) but not being told why it is a good photo; and being told you have a poor photo (by having it rated poorly) and not being told why it is a poor photo.

I'm sorry if I sounded harsh. I'm just often frustrated by the shear volume of people who complain about 3/3 ratings left anonymously but no one seems to ever complain about anonymous 7/7s.

Not the case here Ian. I want to know also (and maybe i didn't articulate this) what is good, and what is not good about any given photo. I make it a point that when i rate photos, i also comment and/or critique the photo so that the photographer knows what the rater likes or dislikes about it. This was my only point

Again, thanks for your comments.
