Priceless expression. Unusually for me, I prefer the color version, because of the stage lighting.

Pnina you will not be surprised that I love the red color of the dress so for me the color version is a must. Her red hair adds to color messages of the scene (passion, danger...). I love her expression - it makes me smile, not of her, but with her. All signs of a good photography.

Les, thanks for taking the time, commenting and liking, I appreciate it, feel well !

Anders, so glad to see you active again. thanks for liking the original one, it is my preference as well, I think that the pose (which connected strongly to me), the stage lights as well as her dress colors, are important for the mood of the moment.

( being closed from the outer world, a moment for herslf....;-))

Some people are born for the stage. What an expressive face she has. This reminds me of some of Toulouse-Lautrec's stage performers, particularly a painting he did of Yvette Guilbert. This is a wonderful capture. The sparkles only add to her star quality.

Pnina you have captured priceless expression. Light, cropping and exposure are very good. I prefer the coloured-version.The blue aura and red dress enhance the beauty of this image, which is conspicuously lacking in B&W version.

Jeff, I have a book of Toulouse Lautrec works of art, he was a great lover of the performing arts. I love his skilled work ,as he so well understood the theatre, dance, and circus characters, and so well depicted them., That is what I try to do with photography....;-))

Amal, I agree with you about the colored one.it is for sure my favorite. the B/W was concentrating especialy on her expression, thats why I have uploaded it.

Ektor, thanks! I have sent you an email, I hope it is the same old one....

Pnina, a very appealing portrait, full of character and cheerful emotion. Wonderful light, especially the blue highlights on hair and outlines. I think that this was a difficult image to get right, and you have succeeded brilliantly.

To my way of thinking, this image works just as well in B&W as in colour. I barely notice the colour to be honest, or much of the rest of the image. I find myself transfixed by her facial expression. I get the feeling her expressions is offering a glimpse into a very wonderful event in her life which she is revisiting in her memory at that moment.

Tolo, for your comment.

Roger, glad you liked it and wrote your feedback and feeling.

Karolos, thanks as well for your feedback.

Jack,a good artist( which she is) knows how to transform an inner feeling to outer mien.

Ruud thanks as well for your impression.

Gord. the B/W was uploaded as I wrote above to conscentrate on her expression without the " around", but a visual theatre like this one ,that has no spoken language, uses more and other means of expressions, like colors, lights, shadows , clothes, movement, and other ellements .It is of course a personal taste, but for me, the colored and lighted version has an added meaning to her face expression. Thanks for expressing your feelings and point of view.

I think the facial expression is key here and it is enhanced a lot by the pose, which offsets it so nicely. There's a warmth to her look and her expression suggests an inner as well as outer glow. I think black and white could be effective but it would need work. Because of greater contrast in tonality, her face stands out in the color version in a way that it doesn't in the black and white, and I think the expression would have to be brought out and contrasted more with her dress in the black and white. Also, desaturating with more color control might maintain in the black and white version the emotional force provided by the blue glow around her head, if you feel that element adds to the impact.

Her hands are such a key here. Along with her posture, they really help support the story of her face, and you certainly chose the right moment of capture for this. Given the dark conditions, there emerge strong magenta digital artifacts at the hands, and it might be worth some color channels work/slight desaturation (even a subtle and localized blur added) to minimize those effects. Her hands, to me, really unlock another secret to this photo.

Thanks for your nice evaluatuion

Fred, You are right anout the B/W. I added the contrast needed, and it is as it should be ( can not change the example here). but my aim was as I wrote, just to show her expression without the lights.( still it was a bit careless, and thanks for your eye)

The hands on my monitor looked blurred enough, but I worked on them separetely again,( I wonder if you will see the difference, as we know different monirtors can also make a difference....)

My work really concentrated on the colored one .As I wrote to Gordon, in this kind of visual theatre, without words. many ellements are used to enhance the expressions, and I isolated the scene and colors in my interpretations as well.

Brad, thanks as well

Roger S ,thanks for your comment ( I liked the first better....;-)) and your nice friends are very sweet. Thanks
