LenMarriott 9 Posted July 22, 2008 Spotted on a recent photo outing. Would you have removed the diagonal stick in the center before taking the shot? Your comments\critiques will be gratefully received. Best, LM. Link to comment
maurocarli 0 Posted July 22, 2008 I think that removing the stick would have remarkably change all the visual balance of the image. Therefore it is difficult for me to tell if it would have been better or worse: all I can say is that it would have been quite different. Apart from that, the photo has a very nice detail, incredibly beautiful greens, and it's a joy for the eyes! Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted July 22, 2008 Mauro, Thanks for your observations. The greens are what caught my eye after the white blooms which are surrounded by them. The question I posed about removing the twig could easily have been answered by me after I took this one. I should have taken a second shot with the twig removed. Honestly though, I don't think it even occured to me at the time of exposure. Best, LM. Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted July 28, 2008 It's a pretty composition and I too go into the forest quite a bit and wonder if I should have messed with mother nature upon viewing some photos. In some cases you must clean up a bit and take that extra shot. Did you mean this stick? I don't think it bothers me but what I do find a tad distracting is that yellow leaf with the whole in it. Used my clone tool and voila! Have a good day! Kim. Link to comment

LenMarriott 9 Posted July 28, 2008 Kim, Yeh, that stick! You've done a masterful job of removing it & I thank you for showing another path to a fine art print. I also agree that your cure for the yellow leaf with the hole in it really improves the image. Before I print this one I'll try to duplicate your work. Your efforts are really appreciated. Thank you. LenMarriott 9 Posted July 28, 2008 Sally, I'm happy that you've found this one to your liking. Thanks to Kim we now have a much improved version of it. 'Found' details like this in the forest are an unexpected bonus. Best, LM. Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted July 28, 2008 I'm really happy that you like my adjustments. Sometimes it takes an outsider to see some stuff that we miss ourselves. I also appreciate your input on my images as you have a great eye for detail as well. Good luck with the PS work. If you have any problems, I would be happy to help you. Kim Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted July 30, 2008 Kim, I've printed this one with the removal (to my satisfaction at least) of the twig. I've also plugged the hole in the leaf and replaced the yellow with green. Looks just like your version. Thanks for the inspiration. Best, LM. Link to comment
