Actually, it is after MANET's Olympia, an outrageous painting for its time. Not a nude, but a naked Parisian girl. A lovely photo, the composure and setting could not be better. Thanks!

Also, I think the original model's name was Victorine Meurent, and she went on to become a painter herself. Unfortunately, few or none of her own works survived, and she died in obscurity. Don, I think you and Amber have done a wonderful job paying tribute to this famous painting. Best wishes! -Michael

You forget that Manet was also referencing an earlier painting, Titian's Venus of Urbino!
