Elephant herd on the Maasai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya

I watched a documentary this afternoon on the women of the Maasai tribe in East Africa and got to thinking about my time spent there, interacting with the Maasai on our safari. There are SO many images that I haven't even begun to process yet. And it was a year ago. So I thought I'd share some shots of elephants with you. This herd was walking past us as a rain storm was starting. There was also a lot of haze on the horizon because there were fires in Tanzania and our guide told us that the smoke was blowing up from the border area. I know that it's difficult to distinguish elephants in the photo (walking away from us), but you know how much I love the wide angle shots! :-)

i love the wide angle here and the way the sky and landscape dwarf the elephants. it gives this quite an impressive sense of scale. nice light as well with the storm coming up on the horizon
