Shooting tern dives this morning, trying to get bird half in and half

out. This was as closest as I got. Note tail and head.

Well done. I also shot some terns last weekend (I have some in my most recent). This is excellent stop action. I was clearly shooting with a slower shutter and didn't produce this quality. I found it fun all the same, I don't know how you managed to get this, for me I just pointed the camera at the spot where the food seemed to be and was able to catch a couple of these guys, I mostly got them on the way out of the water so I'll have to try again. Congrats on a successful shot.

My favorite bird to shoot, I just concentrated on dives today. Some days I just shoot them emerging after dive, easier and more dramatic.

O What an action captured with sharp detail. Love the complimenting reflections that adds to its composition. Thanks for sharing.

Richard, I am a photographer who takes pictures of birds not a birder. Definite distinction.

It took me a while to locate the tail, the head was easier. Itried this with the green heron but couldn't get it. Thansks for sharing the settings.

BTW, You are the best bird photorapher around here :-)

Great shot. I have a long way to go to get this good. You certainly give a person a level to aspire to.

Monte, I've been away for a few days and I see you haven't slowed up a bit. I hope I didn't miss seeing too many like this. Regards....Dave
