tulips, another shot, a week later, more gripping ?

A lot of people looked at and rated one of my previous tulip shots

because of its original viewpoint. I went back a week later and took

some more, this one is more appealing in my view. Comments and

ratings appreciated (and please look around in my folder to compare).

Liked this a great deal, however, I did feel that maybe it is a little over-exposed, but this maybe just because of the angle of the shot!.....Though don't take my opinion too seriously, I'm only just a hopeless beginner....lol

You did a very nice job - and yes, it's better than the one you had last week :) I tried to do this before and it was impossible just to view it through the lens in the first place. I agree with Adrian that it looks a little over-exposed, but if not the bottom part would be completely dark... What was the aperture used?

I prefer the first one (in the portfolio order): greens are much nicer

Very nice. I disagree with the "overexposed" comments. I think it's right on looking at the stems. Only thing I'd do it crop out the bottom of the flower at the top of the frame, which would also cut out the biggest patch of white sky. 9/9.

Original angle, nice bright colors. Looks like we're dwarfs in a tulip forest.

Not a dull 'picture of a flower'.

Following up on some comments :

I have now added exposure info. Looking at the levels I see the full range used, so dynamic range is wider than camera can handle, so some overexposure indeed. It was a bright sunny day.

Also I have followed up on the cropping suggestion. Here it is. I agree it is better. Thanks for the tip.

Outstanding photo. I preferred the original without cropping - the flower at the top adds to the feeling that you're right in the middle of the flower bed.

This gives a good impression of depth as though you are not only looking up through the blooms but also horizontally through the stems. I agree it looks better with the bit at the top cropped, but cropping the stems off has diminished the effect of depth and also the tonal contrast from cool to hot.
