just curious: Do you think the window (the light source in this case)

needs to be shown for the picture to make sense, or is it plainly obvious

that she's looking out of it? The difference would be between a square

crop, which works for CD covers, and a horizontal crop, which works for

being horizontal. (just kidding). In general, though, should the window

be visible?

sense that she is looking out a window, although if I thought about it I would conclude she is, but it is such a charming portrait that it doesn't really matter to me as a viewer. The light is so soft and warm and the tilt of her head is very endearing, so I am not thinking about what the light is. I would give this a 7/7 - this is the type of portrait that can hang on the wall for years and never be tiring-

Mark nailed it. This is lovely. Beautiful soft light and a great expression, If I were to change anything, I might blur the RHS background a little, but it's great as it is.

Agree with the others. It's spot on.

If you are indeed going for a CD cover or liner notes kind of portrait, I would definitely recommend you browse the CD covers of other solo artists (even online), just to see what's already out there. You needn't copy them, but they have expensive market research behind every cover, so they know what works usually. Just take what you like best, then give it your own unique twist. At the very least it should give you ideas.

But again, this one shows huge improvement. Good job.
