The Caption captures the appearance of what is happening, though not

necessarily the essence, as this man's clenched fists are echoed by he

wall graphic 'clouds' -- making for an unusual 'repetition' of background

to subject. Your ratings and critiques are invited and most welcome. If

you rate harshly or very critically, please submit a helpful and

constructive comment to help improve my photography. Thanks!

Enjoy! John

The depicts the emotional stress of the subject well and harsh lighting fits the theme.

This is one of those rare photos that is about as good in color as black and white -- and a hard choice to make which to post -- I chose black and white, but could have chosen color as well.

Thank you for the kind comment; apparently other raters were more confused about this photo - ratings are all over the board from 3 to 6. I feel it is 'very good', and you will find that in some of my lesser photos I readily acknowledge they are not as good.

This is a harder photo to interpret as it does not have strong graphic elements and relies instead on mood and a sort of 'mirroring' of subject and the wall graphics behind him which repeat his sort of 'tightness' and tenseness' at least to my mind.

I appreciate your taking the time to comment; nearly all comments are appreciated.

Yes, I did not set out to take such a photo -- I had only spied a background and it was the next background to the one this guy is standing in front of, but I'm an opportunistic photographer, and when he moved in front of this particular one, I was there to make the move with him.

He was actually 'on the telephone' but a bluetooth one (telephone in left ear I thinkj) so it does not show, and he was concentrating very intently on his telephone conversation and did not notice numerous frames I took of him before he walked into a neighboring coffee shop.

This is nearly full frame (slight left crop to remove distracting overlap to next 'background', but only slight.

It also shows as well or better in color; I had a choice and might easily have oped for color.

Best to you and thanks for your comment.

Another great capture. From afar and looking at this as a thumbnail the clouds resemble "fists" directed at you. The hands and the graphics tell the whole story here and they pack quite a "punch".

That's the whole point of the photo, but it seems to have gone over the head of various raters -- many of whom seemed to have missed the point or not entirely understood or agreed with it.

I like this very much; a friend immediately picked this out as 'extraordinary' but alas, it does not show so well in thumbnail; only in full view. Such are the exigencies of showing first in thumbnail.

Alas, that's the way of this chosen forum;

And as always, I thank you for a thoughtful analysis and evaluation.

I had many captures in a short time of this guy (talking on his blue tooth telephone in front of this background), but this clearly was the best.

I'm glad for your good feelings and interpretation about this photo; it concurs with mine, and a friend who helped me choose it. It was clearly superior, and clearly also worthy of being exhibited here (and elsewhere).

The mirroring of the fist-like objects in the background and his tensed-up hands is just to my liking together with his intense look. I couldn't have ordered a photo like that.

Thanks so much.
