The Inner Section is beautiful, it looks like a very nice french bistrot...However the 626 number is to close of the 666. Regards.

Is that a bird on the standing sign? Really nicely composed, lots of lines and colors working beautifully together. That wood door provides a nice center and the vines growing across the face a glimpse of the future.

It does look like a bistro, and I think it might have been in a previous life. I'm continuously flabbergasted by the tendency in this country toward what I see as shamanism. There has been explosive growth in this country of religion (mostly Christian) and we now see magnificent mega churches with huge congregations led by those who seem to be more personalities than preachers. We also have seen these little fringe shops set up in every vacant and available building. Often they are pastored by those who labor during the week in routine and mundane jobs, and then manage to convince their small congregations that they can guide their souls to heaven. Downright frightening. But then again, it's not any more so than our elected representatives.

Thanks for the look. Yes, it is a bird. (Bird of paradise??? Ha ha) I thought it was kind of a surreal scene.

yes.. this is a David Meyer shot, even if it is more of a new'er building, and a bit pristine. Unlike your usual fare.

The only thing that is missing from this shot, is a hand painted scrawl on the building that says...."Please Dont Paint Our Church" LOL

Great stuff Boss.

Great stuff.

Well it really looks like a nice coffee house...;-)) aside from the name no other sign to tell it is a church.... the only disciple seen here is the bird. your explanation adds to the irony of existence of this kind of connection to God....;-))

Glad to see you back David, and posting again.

wonderful colors and lines. yes, this is a very David Meyer kind of shot....bird of paradise!..groan...i am a little unsure about the grey things on top of the building. i find them a little distracting, but without them this place may just float off to heaven...

Yes, I have also noticed new little churches popping up in my area. A sign of our times, it seems. People may feel frustrated with the way things are going for them in particular, and the country as a whole, so they are turning to religion......Hmmm, didn't someone say this just recently??? :)

I think you are bullshitting me. There are not even any one way stops in your world. In fact, I don't think you know the meaning of the word "stop." But that's why you're my man. :)

Thanks. I think the bird was wavering in his faith. lol I'm sorry to say, that most likely in your part of the world there are not as many fruitcakes as we have here. Although you certainly have plenty of religious fanatics.

One other irony. There actually is a coffee shop just to the right of here in the same building.

Glad you liked the bird of paradise joke. You are probably right about the AC units on the roof. I first thought to crop them out, but did not want to lose any of the light standards. Yes, I should have cloned them out. If I decide to print this, I'll do that.

Yes, I believe our next president made some reference to those fools. Only thing is, he had to back off, since speaking the truth is anathema to getting elected in the U.S. Tis a shame.

This must have resonated with you, since you rarely leave comments behind when you visit. I don't know about the image, but I do know I agree with you about religion.

This one is on the classy side. Ours lean toward shabby. Like you, I'm fascinated with what brings people to churches such as this. Here in the South, the Baptists of course dominate. And we've got every variety of Southern Baptist church you could imagine. You'd think every itch would be scratched. And yet I see these off brands popping up all over. Someone told me that its just a matter of some guy who has a little charisma and sees pastoring a church as a way to make a buck. That seems a tad cynical to me.

I'm glad you had a viewing angle to include the lines on the pavement. I think they add an interesting contrast to the dominant white of the building. And they connect with the name of the church. I have to say that the name is quite creative. We wouldn't get that here.

This is a really well organized picture with its almost cartoon-like diagonal parking spaces and its reddish brown door. You haven't posted a lot of new work lately, David, but what you have is "cherce" (to quote Spencer Tracy.)

Believe me we have lots of less classy upstarts. I've photographed some. I'm on the very cynical side on interpreting the the cultural significance. Very cynical.

I have been quite busy, and suffering a bit from burnout. I'm going to struggle a bit more, as inspiration is hard to come by these days and I've gotten tangled up in a lot of activities that are demanding a lot of time. But, I'll be around and hope I can come up with something worthy of posting.

In mid July, I'll be on the road again (not wandering aimlessly as is my wont) and the road is always an inspirational source for me.

Congratulations on another crowd pleaser! There is something here for everyone, and it's a well composed attractive shot, with the lines, angles, the contrast of the blue awnings against the white building, topped off by that warm wooden door. The bird is this little humorous addition to top off the irony of the whole image...and the name...you sure have a knack for finding these great sociological and philosophical images wrapped up in good photography. I really don't mind the air conditioners. They probably need them to cool down the heat that is generated when they really get things going inside.

Have a great Summer!

What denomination might this be? I particularly like the apparent loading zone outside the door. Another spiritual head-scratcher, David.

Thanks. Speaking of summer, it hit 109 here day before yesterday, and about 105 yesterday. Now that's summer! I'll be headed to the Midwest in a few weeks, and I'll bet it will not only be hot, but humid too.

I have no clue what denomination this is. Around here so many little churches spring up, and I don't think they all are affiliated. You've made me curious, and, since this is right next to a place I go to often, I shall try to find out more. Thanks for looking. I'm still scratching my head.

a charming photo with lots of geometric shapes. Did you grow much taller, or were you standing on the bed of your truck? What - a church without a cross?

Cheers, Micheal

I sent you an email, but sent it to the address I have on file for you, and it came back as undeliverable. So I resent it using your PNET link on your homepage. Let me know if it gets to you. If not, you should have my email address, so just send me an email so I have your new address. (Unless, you've become suddenly private and don't want personal correspondences.)

You are getting to be a rare commodity these days. You know, when I first viewed this out of the camera, I was struck by the way it appeared that it was taken from a high angle. I cannot explain this as all I did was put the point and shoot to a level where I could see the screen clearly. At any rate, I'm sure pleased that I was able to get all the painted yellow lines in, because I think they are integral to the image. I know if you had done this you would have changed the address to 666.
