HermanRoes 6 Posted June 21, 2008 Railroad crossing sign as a mere piece of modern abstract painting. Your comments, critiques, they are appreciated and very welcome. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 21, 2008 It's beautiful but I think it would be more effective if you cropped it as a perfect square even all around. I think the symmetry is the heart of the matter, and the off centeredness distracts this viewer. Just a thought. Regards, Mead Another possibility is to smooth out all the surface irregularities so that it looks like an abstract painting, but keep the title as a reference to the literal origins of the image. One minor criticism, the image seems slightly out of focus to me. Link to comment
paul rollin 0 Posted June 21, 2008 I am a "Minimalist" as well. I like this photo very much. I like the texture. Don't change it. I would not do anything except possibly jack up the colors, brightness, and contrast in PS Adjustment/Curves. And I think I would clone out the small gray strip in the bottom black triangle. Guest Guest Posted June 21, 2008 True, looking at it a second time, the slightly off kilter crop creates a nice tension. The same tension I saw the first time, but it affected me differently the second view. Perhaps I am in a better mood and so more tolerant of tension??? And I like the surface textures the second go round as well. But it still looks slightly out of focus but I won't suggest sharpening it because I will just change my mind later!
