dberryhill 3 Posted June 18, 2008 Meir, I suspect you are accustomed to it, and I suppose it is deemed necessary, but is it a strange feeling to live where so many young people ("kids") are walking around carrying big guns? It reminds me of how I've imagined the Wild West looked in the US. It seems that it might doing 'street' photos more of a challenge. I know that since 9/11, there are places I can go here and if a security person sees me, he/she will always inquire as to why I have a camera. One of those is a nearby park at a hydroelectric dam. I find it amusing, since over the years I've taken shots of virtually everything there. If my intentions were indeed sinister, I wouldn't need any new pictures. Link to comment
Tanja 0 Posted June 19, 2008 "("kids") are walking around carrying big guns?" They are not kids, they are young people and I can say extraordinary responsible. They even go to clubs whit the guns, but I never, never saw that they are playing whit guns or use them in any irresponsible way. dberryhill 3 Posted June 19, 2008 I meant no offense to them or to you. For someone in his sixties, like me, the term 'kids' refers to a broader age range than it would to a younger person. And I did not intend to infer they they behave irresponsibly. I was primarily curious as to whether their presence makes taking public photographs more difficult. Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted June 19, 2008 Tajana and Doug...You are both correct. I am older than Doug. I also call them girls and boys. These "girls" and "boys" are keeping me alive at great risk to themselves. As for restrictions......I am more free to shoot photos here than in America. If I am a tourist I can shoot most anything. If I pull a gun instead of a camera then these young ladies will kill me. Link to comment

Tanja 0 Posted June 19, 2008 I didn't mean to be offensive too, I did see that you put kids in a brackets. Regards! Link to comment
Timo Hartikainen 548 Posted June 19, 2008 Thanks for sharing this one..it's quite strange and original photo for me, to see young women with guns (because I live in Finland) but I quess this is not so original photo / sight for you. Link to comment
dirtlawyer 0 Posted June 19, 2008 During my recent (2006) trip to Israel, the sight of these kids packing guns took some getting used to. But they gave me a great sense of security.I walked through all areas of Jerusalem, both Jewish and Palestinian, festooned with photographic equipment. Never once did I feel threatened. And when we used Arab owned businesses, such as our hotel, restaurants and small shops, we were treated with the utmost courtesy.I want to go back. Link to comment
