jeffsoo 0 Posted June 17, 2008 A powerful addition to a portfolio that shows a distinctive eye for pattern and composition. With the luminous and slightly lurid colors, the tortured positions of the fish, and the primordial-looking beast at right, this is reminiscent of Flemish Baroque still life. It seems too tightly cropped: the metal rim of the bucket is just as interesting as the fish and should be fully shown, as should the tail chopped off at left, and the whole thing could use a little space around it. One could certainly play up the painterly aspect of this image, but it works very well as is. Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 265 Posted June 17, 2008 Really perfectly composed and so great and persuasive shapes and colors! Still life as an expression doesn't exist in my languages, we call it like the Spanish Dead nature, and this one is really dead, ha! PDE Link to comment
