This simply could not be better! A beautiful beach/seascape; with some wonderful light. Very nicely done! Cheers! Chris

I deleted my previous comment because I was dead wrong about it. This one certainly grows on you, and after a while the abstraction in the lower right begins to settle in. That, and its relationship with the rock in the lower left corner, reinforced by the black lines in the sand. I set this to my desktop wallpaper because there is a subtle complexity going on here, and I obviously need more time to analyze it!

I'm glad you rethought this one, David; as I was going to offer a thought. I think what keeps the FG in this image is the streaking and the ripples accented by the magnetite grains in the sand. Those patterns lead the eye naturally from LL diagonally across the image to the light at UR. I think it is pretty magical and a nifty image, all in all. Cheers! Chris

I welcome very much your previous comment, in fact, I also gave it a serious thought. When I took this picture the ray of brilliance brought about by the setting sun on the right caught my eye but only gave the magnetic sand imprints a secondary thought. On this aspect I tend to agree with Chris, its role in the overall picture. Also, after reading your first comment, I tried toying the photo on a vertical presentation leaving the rock on the left but I though it would take away the drama of the whole picture because that would mean taking away the waves which I feel is still complimentary to the whole image. Thanks! - LESTER

This photo was taken along the beaches of Corona del Mar at 8PM. This photo is uncropped, btw with the following details: f25, 2.50secs ISO 100, 24-85mm@28mm. Cokin filters: circular polarizer, .4GND and ND4

Thanks for all of those technical details! That satisfies the wondering photographer.

After some more time to analyze, I began to see the matching abstraction in the left side. The beach debris in the left and the dark lines in the sand mirror the abstraction in the water on the right. I see several other interesting abstractions, but these 2 really make the photo. I especially appreciate subtle complexity like this because I'm not very good at it.
