Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted June 16, 2008 This HDR process is frustrating because you never quite feel you got it right. Anyway, thanks for your time. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted June 16, 2008 I think that this came out pretty well. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to HDR; I've just never liked the results when I've tried. You caught some nice light and color here. You might fix your horizon; it dips down on the left side. Keep pushing the envelope, and thanks for sharing! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
chip phillips 0 Posted June 16, 2008 You have some nice light here, and I really like the rays coming out of the clouds. One thing that catches my eye a bit is the fact that the clouds in the hdr didn't quite line up correctly. I don't do hdrs myself, but I know this is a problem with them when you have clouds. It also looks as if there are some spots in the sky.... Link to comment

skyjammer 0 Posted June 27, 2008 Brilliant. The HDR blending really works for this image. Makes for a unique sunset shot. Planned to rate 7/6, but the PN elves are at it again. I'll come back. Cheers, brother. -Ade Link to comment
will king 0 Posted July 10, 2008 Let me be different and state that I think this is a horrible job. The composition is boring, there's really no dynamic range. It's HDR with no DR. You have a totally blown out spot in the upper middle and the darks are almost black. There are tons of dust spots in the sky. I just don't see what others see in this. Am I missing somthing? Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted July 11, 2008 Your honesty is refreshing. I see the flaws as well. The dust sopts, I'm aware of. I plan to work on the image some more. My little kids messed with my old camera, and I have since upgraded. These images were shot last year with the old equipment. You're not the first to comment on it. As for whether it's a horrible job, I'll leave you to your impressions. For me, the HDR process is something I'm learning, and hope to get better at. Thanks for the time you took to carefully examine the image, and thanks further for the time it took you to give your honest opinion. Believe me, I think a critique like yours actually helps me grow as a photographer more. As for the ratings on the picture, I have to admit they surprised me a bit, but art is subjective, and different people react differently to different things. I don't control it, nor do I try. raczoliver 68 Posted February 13, 2011 I would not put it so harshly as Will, but I agree that this is not an example of a good HDR image. I was not even sure what all the spots were in the sky, but they are very distracting. The sky is blurred, looks like the clouds moved quite a bit between the exposures. Highlights are blown and shadows lack detail, which defeats the purpose of HDR. I am not saying I would have done better in the same situation, I'm just stating that the flaws are too obvious and distracting. The bottom half looks ok, except for the lack of dynamic range, but the sky just ruins it. I am wondering if it would have been better to just combine two exposures with masking or using a graduated ND filter for a single exposure. Link to comment
