Matt Laur 2,201 Posted June 15, 2008 This cherub is tickled to meet a Bob White Quail up close. The quail, plucked by an enterprising bird dog from the tall grass of a hayfield patch still wet after an evening of thunderstorms, is none the worse for his troubles - if perhaps a little embarassed. Dogs that will deliver such prizes without damaging them are said to have a soft mouth. When such birds are destined for the dinner table, those non-mangling retrieves are valuable indeed. Mr. White, here, went back to join his covey, and had a story to tell. Thanks for visiting. Link to comment
timkeller 0 Posted June 16, 2008 What a wonderful instant you've captured. I was going to use the word "tickled" but you beat me to it. I'm headed out for solo camping again most of the week, where forecasts suggest I'll have days of thunderstorms, too. Hopefully my pups and I won't look like Mr. White here. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted June 21, 2008 it's not only an endearing but also a very good portrait by any standard. Great work, period. My father used to breed Australian parrots on a fairly large scale so this looks familiar to me (in fact there must be a photo lying around of me in the same circumstances). You sure seem to get out enough ;-) Link to comment
