Free to be poor and forgotten in a country that can afford trillions

of dollars on illegal wars that kill hundreds of thousands of innocent

people, and yet cannot look after its own.

Wow, this image and caption holds a mirror to our face and what we see isn't pretty. Also, we can not really 'afford' those wars - all on credit. Our children and grandchildren will have to deal with it. Quite a legacy this administration leaves behind. So glad it's almost over.

Hei Birte,

Sterke bilder fra samfunnets skyggeside. Veldig godt gjennomfrte. Du behersker tydeligvis sl det tekniske som den mer estetiske biten rimelig godt.

Very well made images of the other side of society. A sort of social documentary on a high level.

Lovely faces and details against the backdrop of the american flag.

My compliments.

Ha en god helg.

Hilsen

Peter

This entire folder is quite powerful.  Having lived outside my country in various countries for many years and I think I tend to have a much broader vision of what my country (the USA) is and stands for--the good and the bad.  I sympathize very much with your perspective here.  An anecdote:  My wife and I went to Obama's inauguration in D.C.  It was so cold we looked for a warm place to get out of the wind and found ourselves seated inside Constitution Hall watching the event from comfortable theater seats on three big screen TVs.  We were among the very few whites of the thousand or so people in the Hall...ironically, the very same Hall in which Marian Anderson, the black opera singer, was refused entrance by none other than the Daughters of the American Revolution back in the 1930s.  After this rejection, Eleanor Roosevelt helped set up Marian's concert on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial...the same site as King's "I Have a Dream" speech in 1963.  Unfortunately, it looks like the monied interests have kept Obama on a pretty short leash.  Interesting stuff--your work and the thoughts it inspires.
