stp 6 Posted June 11, 2008 Oh oh, a second comment. At first I didn't care for the very blank sky, but the more that I look at the very nondescript house sitting by the side of the road against a very nondescript sky, it begins to appeal to me, more because of what it says (or the interpretation I might apply to it) rather than the pure aesthetics (which is probably lacking in the eyes of most viewers). Interesting image. Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted June 11, 2008 Doug.... I return. I offered my earlier "comment" in jest, but rest assured that I find the substance of this photograph appealing. An image that captures the imagination and sparks the curiosity; not to mention that it's a real photo with no apparent PS manipulations. Thanks for sharing... Mike Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted June 11, 2008 Perfection is getting a beating with another comment, I hadn't realised before that no comments meant perfection. I had been wondering why my recent stuff had garnered so little attention. Anyway, moving right along, I like this a lot and have a small crop suggestion. Crop from the right to exclude the half tree. IMVHO, it improves the image considerably. Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted June 11, 2008 Thanks for the comments, guys (translation: Thanks for screwing up a perfectly good picture !!!!!!!) :-) Yep, good call Jeff. That tree is expendable. Again, struggling to use all the picture frame. Michael, thanks for the second visit, and I appreciate the humor of your first comment. I might have used photoshop to straighten out the building, but that doesn't count, in my opinion, so long as I didn't distort reality. Stephen, thanks for noticing the importance of the nothingness about the photo. Doug Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted June 12, 2008 You missed the boat on this one Doug... add some serious "moody" vignetting, clip the shadows, and you have an object d'art. The galleries will be clamouring. No? Well, hey, best to stick to your guns anyway. BTW, I disagree with Jeff, I like the inclusion of the road. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted June 12, 2008 I don't mind the road, in fact, I quite like it here. My suggested crop is the half tree, comme ca. Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted June 12, 2008 Hey now, we all have our own styles. Hmm, wonder where I can get a cracked version of that software. Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted June 13, 2008 This thread's "POW-wow." I've never seen so many little golden cups in a row before! Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted June 13, 2008 I noticed all the gold and was beginning to feel a little inadequate... :-) Mike Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted June 14, 2008 Now that Michael has mucked up the nice row of golden cups, I'll submit my preferred version.Mind you, I have the full range of Roaring Forties Skies available to me. You can't get them, in the cracked version of Sky In A Box. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted June 14, 2008 I wonder if we can get a colloborative gold cup? If we keep going on this image much longer, it will end up on the front page anyway. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted June 14, 2008 All these cups are making me thirsty, somebody needs to fetch a few pints to fill them up. Technically Doug should have two cups. I raised that point with Josh but it did not go over too well. Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted June 15, 2008 it's very frustrating that the best threads seem to occur on my least impressive photos. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted June 16, 2008 Yeah, I once made a hole in one while out golfing by myself. I know what you mean. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted June 24, 2008 OK, that's Peter sorted. Now we only need to get Michael a cup. Any suggestions? Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted June 26, 2008 Yes, looking even better now. I quite like this shot from Michael's portfolio. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted June 26, 2008 Have we ever had a squirrel POW? I like the shot a lot. Gold for Michael sounds like Norman May (sorry folks, Ozzie joke) Congratulations on the POW, BTW. Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted June 26, 2008 Thanks very much, Jeff. Here's a clue for our non-Ozzie's... Link to comment
