armindo_lopes 1 Posted June 10, 2008 As usual, "I saw" you before opening... My problem to comment your images, is that very often I feel afraid of repeating myself. They are all so good... Even if you don't give too much importance to ratings (like me), I hope that my ratings will transmit what I think. Summing up, this one is a masterpiece. Personally, I would consider to give some more empty space on the right. That's a question of taste only. Have a nice day and regards. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted June 10, 2008 A masterpiece,Pnina. You have captured a moment of classical appeal & beauty. The figures are glowing in the sidelight. Link to comment

jeffl7 0 Posted June 10, 2008 Initially, I thought, "Why didn't Pnina clone out the darkened dancer at the top." And then I thought about how pain and love don't occur in a vacuum, as much as young lovers would like to believe. Our emotional experiences are universal and are connected to a wider audience of people who share the good and bad and who are affected by it. Link to comment
teresa.zafon 0 Posted June 10, 2008 Superb light and beautiful composition. Your dance shots are really special. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 10, 2008 Ruud and Vladut, thanks both of you. Armindo. Thanks , I appreciate both, but your comments, and feeling expressed ,are important. Thinh, thanks for your visit and comment. Jeff, in the group there are two dancers that for me portray the general parenthood that has to deal and support with a tough situation ( and I have a friend that deals with it in real life) .The figure on the back as you will see in the next uploads is the general "father"and therefor part of the scene. And as you have said so well: "Our emotional experiences are universal and are connected to a wider audience of people who share the good and bad and who are affected by it." Teresa, thanks for connecting to it. Link to comment

adan1 0 Posted June 11, 2008 A strong scene that in my opinion depicts love and support. One should cherish the company of loved ones and friends, especially in times of need. Not everybody has a shoulder to cry on. The guy in the background reminds me of those who have to "fend" for themselves. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted June 11, 2008 Pnina, I purposely abstained from reading other comments on this one so they wouldn't affect my first impressions of it. My first impression was that of Jeff's, get rid of the guy in the background. If the photo is to be displayed with nothing more than the title I feel that is a valid decision. If the full context of the dance will always be posted with the photo then perhaps he could be left in. I offer my amature PS solution. Merges including the main subject are usually undesireable as they are distracting. 'Masterpiece' is a bit of stretch for me (unititiated in the arts) but I will admit to 'Darned Fine Work'. Always an education and a visual treat to visit your folders. Best, LM. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 12, 2008 Andrea,Rueda,Glauco, Linh,PNF, Cherlyn,Hussein, Tolo,Adan and Len, I appreciate you feedback. Len, thanks especially for taking the time, It is a possibility for sure., But first, let me explain, it is not a merge, it is the scene as was photographed on the stage. as I have written to Jeff, adding the next photos will make it clearer that the figure behind is part of the ' family" like a general " father", and therefor , for me part of the scene. I upload another version of this scene that is already used by the group, with the same figure in the BG. Another point is the diagonal line the trio is creating , which I think augments the tension of the whole. Thanks Len, Very much appreciated. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted June 12, 2008 I think I need to explain my earlier comment. What I meant by 'classical' is "Classical unities" of time, place and action.Life,Love, Pain and Death are intertwined These have been main ingredients of classical literature and art. Classical art dates back to the Roman/Greek Classics in the West and Ramayana & Mahabharata in the East. It is art based on specific parameters for proportion and beauty unlike modern art which has no real standard. Pnina's background in Art, lends a classical touch of colours and figures. However,"Love and death conspire towards one great end" and results in pain. I hope I should not be misunderstood. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 12, 2008 I have understood you before, I know what classical means ,but thanks for a nice explanation ! Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted June 12, 2008 Beautiful shot, Pnina. I particularly like the space you left around the protagonists, and the figure in the background that adds to the story. Link to comment
