catherinevankempen 0 Posted June 9, 2008 Hello Jay, I love this image, the composition is great, I am fascinated by your post processing/printing technique (is this digital or some kind of alternative process). I most definitely want to learn how exactly you did this. The vignetting, the colors, ... very authentic. Which brings me to my one and only gripe ... the dock and the ship moored behind it feel slightly more "modern" than the rest of the image. Please understand, I am nit picking, but I do find that white ship/boat somewhat distracting. Like I said above, what a wonderful image. Catherine Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted June 9, 2008 It is, indeed, a very skilled and pleasing image. Catherine has a point about the white boat. I'd clone it out. Otherwise, it's awesome. Timeless feel, cool color palette. It's got it all. Link to comment
stephen-whitehead 0 Posted June 9, 2008 I think you've done a great job here but perhaps the yellow part of the boat could be degraded to be more in keeping with the rest of the image - it just looks a little bit fresh to me. Just a suggestion - Nice work. Best regards Stephen Link to comment
tridakfoto 0 Posted June 17, 2008 Thanks for the advice and critique so far! I do agree with the white boat to the right of the image taking away from the overall feel of the photo and have cloned it out as well as neutralizing the yellows a little. As for the technique ... it is just using different images of textures in Photoshop and applying these to the image by means of layers. From here you can adjust lighting, opacity and so on until you are satisfied with the final result. Everyone has a different technique for doing this but the basis is usually the same. A quick Google search for "using textures in photoshop" will assist you greatly and I believe you can find a video tutorial as well this way. Good luck!
