I think the flag may have been overkill, the figure, his posture, his expression ... all these things combined with the title seem strong enough for me. But then again, I'm not a fan of being too literal. I really like the image of the vet though.

Another very powerful image. I think the flag is perfect. It ties the forgotten old veteran to the United States. Hopefully, our next president will change directions. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

Thank you for this poignant photo. My dad is a WWII veteran and spent 18 months in Stalag 17 concentration camp. He is fiercely patriotic, and despite the fact that there are many things in this country I'm disillusioned with, I have grown to understand patriotism through my father's eyes. This photo says it all! Bravo!
