andrea-de-bonis 6 Posted June 5, 2008 this is the best of the 3 you posted. It works very well for the composition, in which i see different and indipendents elements , that tell about the same thing, the life in this street and in this moment. i love the look nikon-ilford-800asa, Link to comment
Funtak 0 Posted June 19, 2008 You have made them jump out from the darkness of the street just fine..I like this photo. Link to comment
James G. Dainis 300 Posted January 3, 2013 This has the stark black and white street photography look that one associates with Weegee (Arthur Fellig). Good job. I'm sure you didn't use a Speed Graphic but a 50mm "normal" lens on 135 film gets that perspective along with nice darkroom work. Link to comment
lex_jenkins 13 Posted January 4, 2013 James, you nailed it dead on the head! Weegee was a huge inspiration and influence on me as a kid. I loved that nighttime direct flash look and used it a lot for a few years. There was something so frank, honest and direct yet still empathetic in many of his candid non-news photos of NYC. I got away from it for awhile after getting a Nikon D2H and SB-800 flash because Nikon's TTL flash is so good it's easy to get subtle bounce and fill flash. But the past year I'm getting back into using direct flash with smaller P&S cameras, film and digital. This photo was taken with an FM2N, 17mm f/3.5 Tamron Adaptall, and, I think, Nikon SB-10 flash. Film was HP5+ at 800 - probably souped in Microphen. Link to comment
