kane 0 Posted July 6, 2008 There are too many things going on here and they put me off balance. The lighting difference between the flag and the person is very drastic. It obviously is a composite image, and that is fine as far as it goes, but without the clarification that it is such, it is a cheat to the viewer (speaking as a working staff photojournalist of 14 years). I want the actual context the person the person was in. I want to see where he was. That is drama; that does enough. To overlay his photo on top of the flag is to editorialize. The actuality of the event is truth and clear enough. Lastly, how do we know this is a veteran? there is nothing I can see he is wearing or doing that shows him to be a vet. I'm sorry, this does not work for me. Also, be careful about putting up work that is an illustration and not identified as such.Good luck on your next project. Link to comment
prguarrera 0 Posted March 2, 2009 This pictures works just fine as is..., I don't need to know the background, I don't need to know if this gentleman is a vet or truly homeless. The artist is making a statement and that's enought for me, because it is well excecuted. Congrats Birte you have made the observer take note, think and feel, which is what art does!! Link to comment
