it's great. it's not a boat until you see the reflection. if it can't reflect, it is nothing.

Just great stuff. Happy to upgrade your average rates.

Urges me to see more of your works. Will go!

Cheers.

One of your very best ( and you have so many...) The eye starts with the 3/3 ;-)) blue triangle, which is the prominent ellement in composition, and slowly "travels" to the lower layers. It is different and still have your stamp on it.

Beautiful abstract which still keeps the reality source and texture. It is nearly a symmetric composition , but is " broken" by the ellement on the R (lamp? )

Very delicate colors and rendition, Gord.

Great image, I like the water/sea feeling and the dreamy reflection meeting with the clarity of the top part of the image.

Obsessions easily wash a person into obscurity as the water has done for the reflection of this vessel.

Well I think you really nailed it. I think it has the inherent quality of your experimentations, put into a more "classic" image. The high key is key (sorry, couldn't help it) for achieving such a beautiful result.....Cheers!

I agree this is not my usual approach but this caught my eye and was too hard to ignore.

Foggy mornings have always held that dreamy quality for me.

Tony;

Thanks for the rating and the comment.

Mary;

Agreed, without the reflection all you've got is a bit of hull and a lot of nothing.

Mauno;

Thanks for the visit and comment. Being likewise curious, I dropped by your pages and left a comment. You have some very nice work.

Pnina;

This is one of those shots I nearly did not take because it seemed so cliche at the time. That and the fact that I usually shun symmetry. The object hanging down is a buoy used to prevent the boat from rubbing against the peer. To me that buoy is critical to the composition. I was not going to point out the 3/3 in case it gave anyone ideas :-)

I am not at all surprised that it was you who noticed and mention it.

Kirk,

Many a fortune has been washed away by the sea. Deep Obsession is the name one the side of the boat, it seemed to suite.

Juan;

I am glad this still retains some of my usual sense of experimentation for you. For unknown reasons I found myself on that trip stumbling upon a number of more classic compositions.

Halina;

thanks for commenting . I am glad you like this photo.

Carolyn;

That was the first thing my wife said when I showed her this one. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your impressions.

Neils;

Every now and then I allow myself a bit of "perfume" hopefully not enough to stink the place up :-)

Sometime I think we are all drawn to certain aesthetics, even if we usually try to chart our own course. Thanks for dropping by, I always value your thoughts and opinions.

;-)), Gord, I came to see if some idiot ( forgive me....) will give it a 3/3.... well, not this time....thanks for telling me about the buoy, yes essential for the composition.

A high level beauty.

Of course,,,,,always diversity for others and for U-self,,,a good phot/painter try

it all,,,any -ism +++,,,try and fails,, try again and fails once more ,,and then try 3d time

and fails once more,,,but now h/she has learnt something important,,that s how it works,,imo,,,,,,,re niels

So far no " idiots " in sight :-) .... but I'm never one for tempting fate.

Neils;

Wholehearted agreement.

Andrew;

Thanks, I am glad that you like this photo.

to be brutally honest this is a deadbeat subject if ever there was one. So it would take a very creative mindset to make something out of it that would look evem half decent. You've not only done that but exceeded it in no small measure. It looks beautiful and crisp and in short it's a very fine image. Still, I think a few changes are in order...

Micki,

Thanks, I was trying to make the image as understated as was possible.

Ton;

I always enjoy your brutal honesty, almost as much as your sense of humour. I like your changes. The font, replete with sails, is creative.

The subject matter is so hackneyed that I was reticent to take the shot. I was walking around the harbour in the early morning in a deep fog ( the harbour, not me )and this shot was being very insistent, so in the end I relented. I'll try not to make a habit of it.

Sometimes cute works, most times, not so much, but every rule has its exceptions :-)

Ton;

On occasion I am a bit slow. I just realized that along with your other changes you replaced the 3/3 with a 7/7 :-)

S Tamson;

Thanks for dropping in and sharing your thoughts. Glad you like this.

I converted this image with some sepia and it is still beyond cute! I love it when a creative person like you can take an image that IS shot over and over and make something so pleasing to look at...

I love water and the reflections that are liquid shadows...and are always there...While I had this in sepia..I flipped it upside down...and it floated nicely that way as well...This image is very sea worthy! Juan
