I remember when I first married & left England, I left my grandmother

who I had lived with most of my life. I was so full of the future

that I hardly thought of the past & what leaving would mean to her.

She died in 1991 & I miss her dearly. I thought of my grandmother when

I did this picture!

THIS IS A GREAT PHOTO, one thing that i would is to crop out more of the dress and focus more on the hands, letter, and window. But all in all, a great photo. 6/6 cheers

This is a great image, and made even greater by the text you added underneath it. I think it is a shame that text is not a larger part of images such as this. It often doesn't take but a few lines to really transform an image into something entirely different and far more powerful than it would be standing by itself. Now this particular image stands perfectly well on it's own, but your memories and thoughts trigger many of the same for your viewers, making it personal to them as well. It's is just a wonderful photo, a great story, and a 7/7-

Hazel, this is a very human photo, as was already written your addition is touching and adding to the photo its general context of what human life are, of partings, letters and old age. Very good light and composition , it has a soul.

I don't even know where to begin! Such a powerful and moving image. It's just fantastic. You must be so pumped to have this in your portfolio!

Makes me think of the song that talks about the letter the grandfather carried in his pocket every day of his life from the grandmother. He reads it to the grandson just before the grandmother dies. I think it's by Collin Ray?

"....between now and then until I see you again I'll be loving you...love me"

Really outstanding shot....it fills you with questions and memories. The lighting is beautiful. And the hand tells a lifetime. Very nice tribute to your grandmother.

The elderly woman's hand.......one that has held countless letters over the years......tangible love on paper. Thanks for sharing.
