Hello! I really like the idea and I think that you did a good job integrating the violin (or is it a cello?) with the woman. I would suggest you play around with the proportions, maybe making her hips a little bit wider and her torso a little bit shorter. You could also try making the pose less stiff so as a whole the woman looks more human and less static and object like. The one thing I definitively think you should change is that you shouldn't loose her head with the black background. If you experiment more with this idea or this image in particular please let me know.

Thank you for the sugestion! I'm already working on a white background shot of the same backs, the head was a problem and yesterday I took another one for this project. When I finish it I'll tell you! Thanks.

I love the symbolism. I've had a bit of a similar idea with a classic guitar. Good composition. The left side might use some 1/2 stop more light. Good!

Great piece. A graceful tasteful well executed spin on Manray's famous piece.

Beautiful work. Yours and his.

I was going to comment on the similarity with Manray's famous image but I was beaten to it. A very striking image and very skillfully put together which has caught my imagination enough to comment for the first time online on a photograph. My only thought is that I find the way the model is moving her hair to one side distracting. Maybe you could work the ponytail into the fret board of the cello? Anyway, a great image that I would be proud of if it was my own.

Thank you Tiffany and Tim, I inspired it on Man Ray's work to be honest, but the first work that gave me the idea was the album cover from Apocalyptica, "Reflections", I'm working on the third version of this idea, maybe for the next week.

I too have been inspired to revisit the Manray back violin shot. I actually did a shoot this past weekend with the f holes painted on the back of the model. Unfortunately, I'm not happy with the results, so they'll never make if off my hard drive.

Have to say I love the blend from the Viola (?) to the back. It's a great surreal take on the subject. The hand that seems to grab the neck of the instrument adds a greater integration to the seen. Love it.

Long ago, I accepted that whatever is produced today, consciously or not, has been done before.

Because of that, I believe that the rating system photo.net uses (i.e., based on Aesthetics and Originality) is fairly useless ... something I first mentioned here years ago. It really only determines how extensive the reviewer's knowledge is in the field of art history. In particular, I saw one photo rated a 7 for Originality (by more than one person) when the photo itself was almost an exact copy of a photo taken in the 1950s.

So, as I've said on numerous occasions, I believe the ratings should be on Aesthetics and Technical Execution. Example: a beautiful portrait ... Aesthetically a 7 ... but as you look closer, the eyes are soft, the focus is slightly off. Technical Execution: definitely not a 7.

Now I can get to your image ... : )

Aesthetically: very nice, about a 6.2

Technically: the execution is great. At this size, it's difficult to zoom-in, but all-in-all, a 6.3-6.5

Of course, we are limited to whole numbers in real ratings, but not in comment ratings.

I realize it would be a pain for PN to change (i.e., improve IMHO) their rating system, but what is better: keeping an established rating system that falls short of being thorough, or biting the bullet, making it more valuable, and seeing the benefits going forward.

I hope you don't mind that I used your comment space briefly to stand on my soapbox. I'm picking it up and leaving, right now ...

Thank you Lar, I couldn't agree more with you...I can't say that "originality" is easy, it's almost a impossible thing to achive in nova-days world, its all going too fast with digital and information global trade...so, aesthetics and technique is the best "duo" that can be rated on someones work, and comment it's originality by words. It's a good point but the wrong place to be, my work isn't so popular that many people can read our opinions...but whatever, I'm happy sharing the same point of view and I think it's what really matters...

About the work, it isn't the final work, the "full one" is here too:

I would like you to see that one too and tell me what do you think, I found this one kinda empty of content, so I added the landspace world.

You are more than welcome to critique my works, I would be very grateful.
