marcadamus 1 Posted May 27, 2008 Got really, really wet for this one. Thanks for commenting! Link to comment
simay_zsolt 0 Posted May 27, 2008 to me it appears that the water is flowing inside the picture from the back, through a hole. interesting Link to comment
lalit 0 Posted May 27, 2008 I am amazed how you could get sharp picture without the mist or water droplets on silky lines of water. Last year at another fall in the gorge I gave up after 50-70 shots and settled on the composition. Wind direction was very important factor. Great shot and perspective. I also like the angle of light!. I thought foreground is slightly more dominating to my taste as it consumes about 50% of the frame but a unique one and definitely has a Wow factor. Link to comment
bryce_newbury 0 Posted May 27, 2008 It is really a good shot, but if you wont my opinion I think their is just too much going on. Maybe you could simplify it? Maybe you could set a slower shutter speed that way the water is not as distracting? Link to comment
wildforlight 0 Posted May 27, 2008 As is PERFECT! Don't simplify it! This is about the best dynamic waterfall composition I have ever seen. It is exactly what my minds eye is visualizing (for some of my future shots) once I get back to OREGON dang it! Getting all the dynamism and lines for a bold comp. Where is this, if you do not mind me asking? Mark Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted May 27, 2008 Mark, this is a place called Dry Creek Falls. It's a little hike off a long 4x4 road that goes South from Cascade Locks. Link to comment
tidris 0 Posted May 27, 2008 I am amazed at the dynamic quality of this picture. There is a lot of drama enveloped in this scene. Very well executed in my view. Link to comment
will king 0 Posted May 27, 2008 Might be your best shot that doesn't involve the sun. Really nothing at all to nitpick. A couple of questions: what was the focal length on this shot and is this one exposure or multiple? Link to comment
frogpondstudio 0 Posted May 28, 2008 Beautiful! This makes me want to keep trying with water shots to strive to be this good. cher.. Link to comment
thomasr 0 Posted May 28, 2008 Wow I'd say you where wet!! But looks like it was worth it! Very unique perspective here Marc!! Nicely done! Link to comment
mcollier 0 Posted May 28, 2008 I love your perspective. The exposure and light are amazing. This is pure eye candy. Link to comment
ewert02 0 Posted May 28, 2008 I like this one a lot because the shot pretty much submerges me into it. I can almost feel the water going through me. One of your better stream/waterfall shots, if not one of your most unique. Link to comment
lex_photo 0 Posted May 28, 2008 As all have said above me, this is wonderful. I love how the water seems to make fingers coming off the rocks. Thanks for sharing- Lex Link to comment
xtfritz 0 Posted May 30, 2008 Marc, if you don't mind my asking, I'd like to hear about the 'how you pulled this off'. I think getting wet was just the beginning! True adventure photography at its best, I really do like the texture of the water in the lower frame and actually how it compares to the soft water falling above it...very very unique. Thanks for your effort to show us your world. Cheers. Link to comment
ricardolapiettra 0 Posted June 4, 2008 Same question as Christopher, Asuming you used the 16-35 L, the distance between the water in the foreground and your filters should be small, lots of water drops cloning? Great capture, as always Marc, the level of detail on the green walls is superb. Regards from Argentina. (sorry my poor english) Link to comment
cfreemanphotography 0 Posted June 6, 2008 Very interesting capture. The scintialltions look slightly more drawn out than the eye would see them as.... what was the exposure time, around 1/20th? The perspective is very unusual for you... confirmation of your ability to see the world in a variety of ways. Spatial relationships between foreground are very harmonious, though I would not mind an ever so slightly higher camera position to get a little more mid-ground. I suspect that doing so would have placed crap inside the frame? Link to comment
