Swifture 2008

With winds at 3 knots there wasn't much racing going on but it was

great for photographers with a slow moving subject.

What a beauty! I like the warm colored sail and distant blue one. That motor boat needs to speed onward!

Some days it is nice just to ghost along, isn't it, Hanna? I am glad to see yet another great water shot from you.

Yes, it was a beautiful day, but a frustrating one for the competitors in this annual boat race. The motor boat was annoying and kept appearing out of nowhere, but I was concentrating on getting the sailboats in a decent configuration. We were lucky to have the Olympic Mountain range visible as this is not a usual sight. I was also a little distracted by the TV camera 20 feet to my right which kept getting pointed in my direction. I hope Canon appreciates the free advertising.

This is quite a lovely picture. I'm sure you had to be quite patient to wait for the boats to be lined up like this, but it was worth it!

I really enjoy this photo. I think its the wonderful composition and the low contrast colors, it pulls my eye to the front sailboat and then back to the misty edges of the water. Thank you for this piece.

Wonderful shot. Keep it up.  I wish there was a little more depth to the first boat, but I still love the photo. Well done.
