Dave, This is a very calming, pleasing image, and I like a lot about it. The lighting is nicely soft and warm, the colors are natural yet have a richness about them, and the perspective is just outstanding. It looks like this walk way goes on forever! I'm afraid my eye isn't good enough to pick out the multiple exposures here, so you'll have to clue me in. To me, it's just a really nice image and well done.

The Pentax K10d (and I assume this is available on other cameras) allows you to take a user-specified number of shots at a user-specified range of exposure settings which the camera combines into a single photograph. I've been experimenting with this function, trying to figure out what it's good for and the tonal range in this photo gives a clue.

In this case, there were three exposures(at EV -.07, 0, +.07) I had forced the camera to take light readings from the brighter detail in the very center so the original was rather under-exposed. I applied a LOT of fill light in PhotoShop Elements to bring out the foreground detail.

Needless to say, a tripod is required.

I love the elaxed end evocative flavor of this produced, of course by the light. The viewer is positively invited to proceed down the path on a voyage of simple scenic discovery.

Thanks, Roger! The Sunday morning after Commencement and before Memorial Day finds the campus virtually deserted and looking its best so it really was a prime opportunity to take this shot and experiment.
