wood 1 Posted May 26, 2008 Good combination of color and texture. My eye travels from lower right to upper left and wants to see more of the old tree. Perhaps including more of the tree and position the plants more in the lower left corner might help, but maybe not. It would be interesting to see this as an alternative. I also tried flipping this horizontally just to see if it would make a difference, but I prefer the original. Nice shot just as it is, though. Link to comment
naturegirl99 0 Posted May 26, 2008 Thanks, Robert, for stopping by--and for the great comments! In fact, this isn't a tree but what's left of one; it really is a giant piece of driftwood washed ashore. I cropped out the jagged top of the stump as I thought it would be distracting. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted May 29, 2008 You really do have a wonderful eye for excellent and interesting compositions; and this is no exception. This works so well in the vertical format too; with the sweeping curves of the driftwood and the inclusion of the sedum bush working so well together. I might like to see this sharpened a touch more; it feels a touch soft as is. Very nice work, Nancy! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
naturegirl99 0 Posted May 30, 2008 Thanks so much for the great critique, Chris! I agree, there's definitely some softness, particularly noticeable near the bottom of the frame. This was a handheld shot; I need to use the tripod more and I need to play more with DOF. Cheers, Nancy Link to comment
