gordonjb 10,860 Posted May 23, 2008 I like the softness the slow shutter imbues the costume and skin with. Interesting to note that the more jiggly bits are quite blurred while the central tassells remain somewhat better defined. The pastel colour of her outfit and her skin tone go together nicely. I have to wonder if this would look better with the extra body outline on the left of the frame either cropped out or cloned away or otherwise subdued. Compared to the subtlety of the other motion blur, this one area seems too blatant and hard edged. I think the contrast and focus are working against you on that left side ( right side of the women ) and are working in your favour on the opposite side of her torso where the background and her skin blend softly into one another. jeff.grant 0 Posted May 24, 2008 I like the idea in these shots, and Gordon has examined the relalive movements well. What disturbs me though, is the second body outline which is in all these images. I have no idea how you would avoid them but the darker skin outline is harsher than the softer colours. Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted May 24, 2008 Gentlemen, thanks for the comments. I was beginning to lose hope. I've taken them to heart and adjusted the shake image, on the left. I'm happy that you both accepted this as an in camera effect, when it is actually photoshopped. I'm also glad to read your thoughts on the colors. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted May 24, 2008 I'm not so enthusiastic about the entire series - the concept itself doesn't speak much to me. But admittedly this one has nice colors. I guess I'd have prefered if you could go even closer and record a real camera motion blur. I'd also prefer not to see the body outline at all. More abstract was better imo. Regards. Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted May 24, 2008 Marc, you're right, these were not really intended to stoke the philosophical fires of the human intellect. Link to comment
