Pierre Dumas 260 Posted May 20, 2008 Otherwise all concept is extraordinary, but close-ups require extreme sharpness! PDE Link to comment
ricardovaste 0 Posted May 20, 2008 Thanks for your comment Pierre :) I was struggling with shutter speed/sharpness. I used a flash in the end in manual mode to get the sufficient shutter. However, it was still too dark to get quick enough DOF. Regardless, did you look on the larger version? It may not be clear here but you can see the individual 'hairs' on the back of the fly and on the legs of the fly - they are pin sharp! No lack of detail in that regard :) Thanks for looking. lucyhollis 2 Posted May 26, 2008 Great photo - composition, colour, and focus seems good to me! Although you call this 'free fly', the impression I get is of the fly being encased and protected by the needles of this tree. Link to comment
ricardovaste 0 Posted May 26, 2008 Hi Lucy, thanks for your kind and constructive words :). The title of a photo is very important i feel and i have over looked it here. It has been rushed and little thought put into it... which you point out. I used the word free in the sense that everything around the fly was green, but it can be taken the otherway of course, like you have. Definately something i need to work on. And FWIW they are blades of some sort of grass, though i agree it does look very much like needles. Thanks again, Rich Link to comment
