Another image from the 4x5 image vault. This was taken at Canyonlands,

a very rugged landscape that shows millions of years of erosion and

the ways things use to be. My buddy Chris will probably help me out

here and explain what has happened here. Chris?

Let me wax poetic for a moment...Like turning the leaves of an ancient book in a library; Mother Earth knows how to slowly, over the aeons, open the pages of time; exposing her history for all to look at and marvel at. Your photograph has recorded just such an event. Your composition and point-of-view takes in many tens of millions of years of deposition, compaction, lithification, uplift, and subsequent erosion. Your black and white photograph perfectly presents this history. Well done, mon Ami! Cheers! Chris

This is a beautiful B&W image. Terrific job on the toning as well. It suits the desert landscape wonderfully. I was here a few years back and struggled to take in (and photograph) all these grand landscapes. This photo really communicates the vastness and solitude of the area well.

Thank you both for your comments. Aaah Chris I knew you wouldn't disappoint; the scholar as always! Even Sarah couldn't resist your knowledgeable charm!
